Like a frame for a painting,
a niche enhances the beauty of the urn it displays. In cemeteries,
niche units are often placed in entrance areas, prominent hallways
and alcoves. Like urns, niches come in many styles. Some feature
clear or beveled-glass fronts.
An increasing number of cemeteries are adding
custom cast bronze niche fronts designed to illustrate nature
scenes or biblical images. They are being integrated on walls
among classic marble crypts or installed as exclusive sections
of the mausoleums.
If you select to have your urn placed in
a niche with a cast bronze or marble front, you may also want
to select bronze letters or a bronze niche plate as a lasting
tribute.
Usually, the styles of letters or
niche plates used are selected by the cemetery to reflect the
atmosphere of a mausoleum. Matthews bronze letters and niche
plates are available in traditional and contemporary styles to
provide memorialization on companion and individual niches. A
variety of niche plate designs, from simple bevel edge plates
to ornate styles trimmed in floral patterns, are available in
bronze.
