Matthews worked with sculptor Peter Calaboyias
to create the 17-foot high bronze fan portion of the Olympic sculpture
in Centennial Park that is credited with saving many people’s lives
when a bomb spread metal debris over a 100-yard radius of the park during
the 1996 Summer Olympics.
